The swankiest area on Bali's west coast, Seminyak is
dotted with luxury villas, upscale bars and restaurants.
Although it may not boast the big international superstars
of Nusa Dua, a lot of the hotels here offer a bit more
character and a good deal more privacy.
Space at Bali was originally intended to be a party
pad for its owners, before it was converted into a six-villa
enclave. The units are identical and interconnected,
allowing one the possibility of renting them all, opening
the doors and racing from one end of the resort to the
other.
Each has a terrace/living area, a circular kitchen
with Bali decor, a second-floor "chill
space", two bedrooms with king-sized beds and open-air
bathrooms at the rear which let you do your business
in the midst of a small, sweet-smelling tropical garden.
Last but not least is a large private pool, ringed
by loungers, plus a gazebo which proved very effective
at lulling me to sleep - sufficient to occupy a big
chunk of one's day, surely.
